Job Requirement / Justification :

To lead the operations and management of the hydrography section and bathymetric surveys team for the port

Job Descriptions :

  • To carry out hydrographic surveys for all Westports operational Berths depth soundings ie. data acquisition and processing,
  • survey equipment and tides calibrations etc, preparations and verifications of required bathymetric survey drawings to IHO
  • standards, submissions, and liaisons with the Klang Port Authority (KPA) and/or any other authorities as required.
  • To submit all berth quarterly update sounding reports and verified survey drawings to management and KPA by the 7th 
  • day of the subsequent ending quarter month.
  • To identify minimum depths at each berth and highlight them to Management and Berth Planning teams on a bi-monthly basis
  • To ensure all survey equipment, processing computers, and software are functioning correctly and to resolve/fix any damages or
  • malfunctions immediately
  • To respond to any contingency matters in the port and/or environmental incidents to minimize the impacts of the
  • contingency and to submit finding reports within 24 hours
  • To be involved in the development of RFPs and/or tender documents for port maintenance dredging works, including volume calculations, detailed reviews
  • of dredging works technical specifications and technical documents submissions
  • To closely monitoring of dredging works activities, verification of works done, coordinate the productions, verifications, and transfer of the digital databases
  • to external appointed dredging contractors.
  • To carry out regular site inspections and involve in dredging works SHE meetings, technical and/or management presentations
  • To review and coordinate dredging works and commissioning activities with all affected internal stakeholders 
  • To carry out any other topographic, hydrographic, and geophysical surveys including planning, field data collections, interpretations, and reporting if/when necessary.
  • To carry out fieldwork and/or field samplings for any required environmental monitoring and reporting in relation to dredging operations when/if needed.

Job / Person Specification :

  • Degree in Geometrics Science or Surveying (Hydrography) or Marine Science with a minimum of 5 years of working experience preferably in ports or coastal and marine surveying works.
  • Good working knowledge of Kongsberg EM2040C MBES system and all associated hydrographic surveying software, CARIS Hips and Sips, Trimble Terramodel, AutoCad 2018, and Microsoft Office applications
  • A resourceful person with logical thinking and practical problem-solving skills
  • Possess good interpersonal, communication, technical writing, project management, and organization skills and must be a great team player
  • A person with FIG/IHO/ICA Cat. A / B qualifications will be given preference.

• Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively and able to work well with people of all levels.
• Highly collaborative, able to work well with a diverse group of staff members, division, and business partners.
• Able to demonstrate enthusiasm and ability in creative & innovative methods of presentation, knowledge of a wide range of marketing techniques and concepts
• Experience with data analytics
• Advanced skills in Microsoft Office applications; ability to prepare PowerPoint presentations, Excel, word and etc
• Able to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment and meet the deadline
