POSITION : MANAGER

JOB SUMMARY :

This managerial position requires a high experience and knowledge on claims and insurance matters and interface with various stakeholders across the organization.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :

Property insured & Property Claims.

  • Completes insurance applications, obtains quotes from brokers, analyzes need for coverage, communicates with insurance broker, coordinates premium payment, and ensures no lapses in coverage.
  • Work closely with insurance brokers, adjusters and authority (LPK) to manage claims related matters collaboratively to build trust and ensure disputes are resolves in the best manner possible.
  • Oversees insurance claims for personal, property, equipment or other type of loss based on coverage and verifiable damages. 
  • To manage Company properties insurance & property claims.
  • Ensure timely collection of reimbursement sum once each case file is closed.
  • To manage renewal of insurance policies.

3rd Party Claims Recovery.

  • Reviews 3rd party claims and submits to insurance broker, communicates with stakeholders as required.
  • Oversees insurance claims for personal, property, equipment or other type of loss based on coverage and verifiable damages. 
  • Work with internal stakeholders and supplier representatives to retrieve costs of repairs of damaged properties and ensure sum is collected in timely manner.
  • Recovery from third party on damage to Westports property upon notification from Port Police and Operation

To manage Port Operator liability claims.

  • Operates one or more claims processing units i.e. RM<75K, >RM75K; including timely and proper disposition of claims in accordance with claims exposure.
  • Act as claims authority within areas of expertise and provide direction on such issues as file handling, policy interpretation, legal and technical issues, or concerning large losses..
  • Act as liaison between insurance adjusters/brokers and internal stakeholders such as operations dept, M&R and conventional dept.
  • Matters related to claim litigation liaise closely with Legal.

Claims Committee meeting and take action to reduce the number of incidents.

  • Ensures complete and sound claim settlements, legal reviews; and investigations in accordance with company claims procedures and guidelines & insurance policies.
  • Coordinate with Process Owners to minimize, monitor, and control the probability and/or impact of incident/risk
  • Chairman of ARC –  Reviewing accident cases and coming out with necessary counter measure to avoid reoccurrence.
  • Set strategy and procedures for the handling of claims within company wide.

To manage claims from vessel damage.

  • Reporting done within 24 hours from incident.
  • Coordinate with the internal Process Owners on the claims.
  • Appoint repairing contactor for vessel damage and coordinate with operations team in order to ensure that repair works onboard vessel are completed in safe and efficient manner.
  • The remaining process to follow item no. 3

Employee Engagement.

  • Supervises, trains, develops, and motivates staff. Meets regularly with staff, to maintain open communications, ensure adequate workload, and update standard procedures.
  • Responsible for managing the insurance & claims department comprising of claims executive and administration staff.
  • Oversee the design of workflows and guidelines; manage on-boarding of new staffs & implementation of best practice in claims and insurance respect.

QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS AND REQUIREMENTS

  • Degree in legal or actuarial science
  • Proficiency in mitigating loss and rejecting claim. 
  • Well versed in vessel operations and planning functions.
  • Thorough understanding of policies and best practices of risk management.
  • Strong supervisory and leadership skills.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software (ATS, PWB, CBAS) to prepare reports.
  • Sound knowledge in claim related matters.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Good negotiation skills
  • Presents analytical ability and effective decision making
  • Working collaboratively with other department to meet shared objectives.
